Desert Hills is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Park City with a sharp 14-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Thunder, who have now won 16 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Desert Hills got a great performance from Andrew Wiley as he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Wiley has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Stoakli Tate, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. Briggs Fillmore was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs.
Meanwhile, Timpanogos faced Crimson Cliffs in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Timberwolves fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 7-5. The Timberwolves' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Tyten Day put in work while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Day was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Collin Morgan made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
Desert Hills' win bumped their record up to 24-5. As for Timpanogos, their loss dropped their record down to 21-8.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Desert Hills hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .367. However, it's not like Timpanogos struggles in that department as they've averaged .346. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
