The third road match was the charm for the Russell County Lakers, as they earned their first road win of the season. They snuck past Cascade with a 57-53 victory on Wednesday.
Despite the loss, Cascade still got an impressive performance from Kaegan Young, who scored 34 points. The match was Young's sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophie Ray, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.
The victory got Russell County back to even at 3-3. As for Cascade, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.
Russell County will head out on the road to face off against Middlesboro on Thursday. Middlesboro is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. Cascade won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Carroll County at 4:00 p.m. on December 21st. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in their respective states (Carroll County is ranked 249th in Kentucky, while Cascade is ranked 250th in Tennessee).
