The Havre de Grace Warriors posted their biggest win since December 8, 2023 on Friday. They blew past Joppatowne 45-19. Given Havre de Grace's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while Joppatowne is ranked 231st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Havre de Grace's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Savannah Lawrence, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lawrence has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Azareya Whiting, who scored eight points along with six steals.
Havre de Grace has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. As for Joppatowne, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Havre de Grace's road trip will continue as they head out to face Edgewood at 6:45 p.m. on January 18th. Edgewood is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Joppatowne, they will head out on the road to square off against Kenwood at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Kenwood's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Joppatowne has been banged up by 14 consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
