Tempe had won two straight games and Saul Mendez did his part to make it three on Friday. The Buffaloes breezed past the Glendale Cardinals to the tune of 41-14 for which the team can thank Mendez, who threw for 405 yards and five TDs, and also punched in one rushing score. He is becoming a predictor of Tempe's success: when he posts at least three passing touchdowns the team is undefeated (and 0-3 when he doesn't).
Tempe's leading receiver Mark Jackson was Mendez's top target yet again, picking up 108 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Jackson's receiving production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 108 receiving yards.
Several Cardinals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Michael Anguiano, who threw for 147 yards and two TDs while completing 72.7% of his passes, and also rushed for 45 yards. 81 of Anguiano's passing yards were hauled in by Santiago Navarrette, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
Tempe's win bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Glendale, they dropped their record down to 1-7 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.
