10 California Regional Bowl matchups we wish would have happened

Grant-De La Salle in 2006 is one of the 10 regional matchups we'd like to have seen during the previous six years of the CIF Bowl Championships.

5. St. Mary's (Stockton) vs. Casa Roble (Orangevale), Whitney (Rocklin) or Encinal (Alameda), 2008
Whitney coach Mike Gimenez got the water bath after his team won a 2008 Sac-Joaquin Section title, but it was to be his final one of the season, as St. Mary's of Stockton earned the nod.

St. Mary's had two losses during the regular season in 2008, falling to Bellarmine (San Jose) and Central Catholic (Modesto). Meanwhile Casa Roble (Orangevale), Whitney (Rocklin) and Encinal (Alameda) all went undefeated at 13-0 on the season. However while those three teams all won lower-division section championships, St. Mary's blasted Pleasant Grove 36-14 in the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I championship game. The win in the higher division made up for the two losses and put the Rams in the aforementioned State Bowl Game against Cathedral Catholic.
