Harvest Christian Academy is 0-9 against South Beloit since May of 2021 but things could change on Thursday. The Lions will host the Sobos at 4:30 p.m. Harvest Christian Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Harvest Christian Academy made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Walther Christian Academy, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Lions blew past the Broncos 18-4 last Friday. The Lions' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Alyssa Burke spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on one hit and racked up 11 Ks.
At the plate, Makayla Richards was incredible, going 4-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. Haley Miller was another key player, going 3-for-5 with four runs, two triples, and two RBI.
Harvest Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, South Beloit was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Clinton, falling 11-1. That's two games in a row now that the Sobos have lost by exactly ten runs.
South Beloit saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Macey Lineman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
South Beloit's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Harvest Christian Academy, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
Harvest Christian Academy's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's contest. The Lions have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for South Beloit, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Harvest Christian Academy continue to outrun the ball?
Harvest Christian Academy couldn't quite get it done against South Beloit in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 as they fell 9-4. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
