Baseball Game Preview: North Iredell Raiders vs. Foard Tigers

For the second straight game, North Iredell will face off against Foard. The Raiders will welcome the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in North Iredell's favor as the squad sits on nine straight wins at home while Foard has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.

If North Iredell beats Foard with 13 runs on Thursday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matchups with that exact score. The Raiders were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Tigers on Tuesday. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by six runs or more this season.

Jay Brookshire was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cody Hager, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lane Barnette, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
