If the MaxPreps state rankings hold true, the near future looks bright for Greenbrier East. They are leaving WV behind and heading out of state to face off against Alleghany on Friday at 7:00 PM. Greenbrier East don't have the home-field advantage, but they do enjoy an advantage in the MaxPreps rankings.
After having lost a blowout in their contest two weeks ago against Bluefield, Greenbrier East were happy to find some success last Friday. Greenbrier East were the clear victor by a 32-6 margin over Buckhannon-Upshur. The team accrued the bulk of their points in the first half (26) and coasted on those for the win.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 7-45, which was the final score in Alleghany's tilt against Radford. Alleghany were in a tough position by the half, with the score sitting at 0-35.
Greenbrier East's victory lifted them to 3-2 while Alleghany's loss dropped them down to 0-4. We'll see if Greenbrier East's success rolls on or if Alleghany are able to steal their positive momentum.
