Melbourne Central Catholic is on a nine-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Rockledge is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Hustlers will host the Raiders at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Melbourne Central Catholic is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, Melbourne Central Catholic got the win against Harmony by a conclusive 12-2. The Hustlers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.
Madelynn Prayto was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up a single walk in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February.
In other batting news, Peyton West was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Madelyn Oesterle, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Rockledge was able to grind out a solid win over Master's Academy on Tuesday, taking the game 4-1.
The team relied heavily on Gizelle Arteaga, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 1-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Ahraya Dalaq, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Rockledge has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.9 runs on average over those games. As for Melbourne Central Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 11-3.
Both Melbourne Central Catholic and Rockledge just can't seem to miss. The Hustlers have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.1 hits per game. However, it's not like Rockledge struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Melbourne Central Catholic suffered a grim 11-4 defeat to Rockledge when the teams last played back in March. Will the Hustlers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
