The South Oak Cliff Bears are on the road again on Saturday and play against the Lovejoy Leopards at 3:30 p.m. on December 2nd. South Oak Cliff has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 468 points over their last ten contests.
South Oak Cliff had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 42-31 victory over Midlothian Heritage on Friday. South Oak Cliff's win was all the more impressive since Midlothian Heritage was averaging only 17.62 points allowed on the season.
South Oak Cliff had a senior duo take command as Khalil Ewell rushed for 196 yards and a touchdown while picking up 10.9 yards per carry and Danny Green Jr rushed for 119 yards and four touchdowns. Ewell was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 66 yards.
Another reason for the win was South Oak Cliff's imposing defensive line, which managed to get into the backfield for ten sacks. It was a group effort, with three picking up two apiece.
Meanwhile, Lovejoy had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 39.9 points), and they went ahead and made it ten on Friday. Everything went their way against Texas as Lovejoy made off with a 43-21 victory. The result was nothing new for Lovejoy, who have now won ten contests by 21 points or more so far this season.
South Oak Cliff's victory bumped their record up to 11-2. As for Lovejoy, the last time they lost on the road was back back in September of 2022. Having now won nine straight away games, they've pushed their record up to 12-1.
South Oak Cliff didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Lovejoy in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, but they still walked away with a 42-37 win. Will South Oak Cliff repeat their success, or does Lovejoy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
