It was a good run, but the Collins Tigers unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a hard 62-45 fall against Richton. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Collins has scored all season.
Collins' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Logan White, who scored ten points along with two steals. White has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last nine times he's played. Donte Booth was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with two blocks.
It was another big night for Dakota Amos, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and five assists for Richton. Amos hasn't dropped below two steals for nine straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Daylin Carter, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Collins' defeat dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Richton, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Collins will take on Mize at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Mize will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 272nd, while Collins is ranked 97th). As for Richton, they will head out on the road to take on North Forrest at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
