The Mullen Mustangs came into Thursday's matchup having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They enjoyed a cozy 67-53 win over Grandview on Thursday. This was payback for Mullen, who suffered a 62-45 loss the last time these two teams met.
Mullen got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jordan Leslie out in front who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 assists. Leslie is crushing the steal category: he's posted at least three every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Bonner, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Several Wolves players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cameron Pritchard, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Pritchard has scored all season. Cole Holtman was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five assists.
Mullen's victory bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Grandview, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mullen will take on the Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Cherokee Trail is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Grandview, they will be playing at home against the Trailblazers at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Overland's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests.
