El Paso and Jefferson are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. Andress hit El Paso with a four-run first inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Tigers might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 8-7 to the Eagles, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Tigers fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Eagles since Tuesday.
Austin Slagel was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Moises Castanon made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Noah Veith, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Meanwhile, Jefferson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 16-5 to Chapin.
Jefferson saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eden Perez, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.
El Paso's record is now 9-8-1. As for Jefferson, their record now sits at 6-10.
Jefferson's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: El Paso hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .332. It's a different story for Jefferson, though, as they've only averaged .257. Will they be able to contain El Paso's hitters?
El Paso got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in April of 2025 against Jefferson by a conclusive 23-10 score. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Silver Foxes turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
