The Highlands Ranch Falcons will take on the Hinkley Thunderbirds at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Highlands Ranch focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday.
Highlands Ranch pushed their score all the way to 69, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Monarch 75-69. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Thursday (60), Highlands Ranch still had to take the loss.
The losing side was boosted by Olin Anderson, who scored 20 points along with 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Nick Gleason was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Even though they lost, Highlands Ranch were working as a unit and finished the game with 20 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Monarch only posted five.
Meanwhile, Hinkley was the victim of a rough 59-34 defeat at the hands of Erie on Tuesday. Hinkley has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The losses dropped Highlands Ranch to 0-2 and Monarch to 2-1.
Everything came up roses for Highlands Ranch against Hinkley in their previous meeting back in January of 2018 as the team secured a 58-29 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Highlands Ranch since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
