The Virginia Episcopal School Bishops's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They took a 60-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of North Cross. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Several Bishops players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Billy Koudelka, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Koudelka hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for eight straight games. Another player making a difference was Gordon Wyatt, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Even though they lost, Virginia Episcopal School were working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Cross only racked up six assists.
North Cross' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaziel Hart, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hart has scored all season. Antonio Mack was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with two steals.
Virginia Episcopal School's defeat dropped their record down to 6-4. As for North Cross, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-6.
Virginia Episcopal School will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Benedictine at 4:00 p.m. One thing working in Benedictine's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four games. As for North Cross, they will head out on the road to challenge Carlisle at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Carlisle focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Monday.
