Baseball Recap: Fairbury Drops Highest Score of Season Against Aurora

Fairbury scored the most runs they've had this season on Monday, but it wasn't enough. They fell 17-12 to the Aurora Huskies. The Jeffs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Huskies apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Miles Tatro was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-5. Another player making a difference was Grady Chappell, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Fairbury's loss was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-10. As for Aurora, they moved to 2-6 with that victory, which also ended their five-game losing streak.

Looking ahead, Fairbury will venture away from home to challenge Louisville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.58 runs per game on average), something the Jeffs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Aurora, they will head out on the road to take on Central City/Centura at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Kernels will roll in looking for their ninth straight win, something the Huskies surely won't give up without a fight.
