Last Wednesday, it was a hard-fought contest, but Lourdes Academy had to settle for a 43-40 defeat against the Bears.
Lourdes Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Luciana Picasso, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds, and Sophia Sandoval who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. That was a full 42.5% of Lourdes Academy's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, Miami Beach scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They walked away with a 47-40 win over Hialeah. The victory was some much needed relief for Miami Beach as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Lourdes Academy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-5 record this season. As for Miami Beach, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-10.
