The Kingston Redskins will square off against the Harrah Panthers at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Kingston will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Thursday, then bounced right back against Hartshorne on Monday. Everything went Kingston's way against Hartshorne as Kingston made off with an 11-3 victory. The Redskins haven't had any issues with the Miners recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
Ewan Weaver was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Reid Patterson, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Kingston always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .618. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hartshorne only posted an OBP of .364.
Meanwhile, Harrah waltzed into their match on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victor by a 9-1 margin over the Bulldogs.
Cal Whitnah made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Whitnah was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one triple and one run. That hit was his first of the season.
In other pitching news, Breysn Webster looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Brayden Costilla, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Joey Mclaughlin, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Harrah pushed their record up to 6-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Kingston, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Kingston hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .315. However, it's not like Harrah struggles in that department as they've averaged .337. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
