It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Catholic of Pointe Coupee Hornets had no problem doing just that on Friday. They claimed a resounding 42-0 win over Cedar Creek on the road. Considering Catholic of Pointe Coupee has won seven contests by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Catholic of Pointe Coupee's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cooper Laviolette, who rushed for 94 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 53 receiving yards. Hudson Moore was in the mix too, providing Catholic of Pointe Coupee with two touchdowns.
The win (which was Catholic of Pointe Coupee's fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 45.8 points per game. As for Cedar Creek, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.
Coincidentally, Catholic of Pointe Coupee and Cedar Creek will both be playing Riverside Academy the next time they take the field. Catholic of Pointe Coupee will head out to face Riverside Academy on Friday, while Cedar Creek will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
