Jack Britt has won three straight games at home, while Cape Fear has won three straight on the road dating back to last season, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. The Buccaneers will host the Colts at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Jack Britt barely beat Richmond the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Buccaneers blew past the Raiders 14-8 on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Buccaneers in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won three in a row.
Ashanthy Marcano was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 2-for-5. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Emma Sandoval was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-5.
Jack Britt was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Cape Fear made easy work of Lee County on Wednesday and carried off a 17-5 victory.
McKinley Kolasa made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Cape Fear let Amari Adams and Jaden Valdez run wild. Adams scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances, while Valdez scored four runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Adams is also on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Peyton Eason, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Jack Britt's win bumped their record up to 11-7. As for Cape Fear, their victory bumped their record up to 15-3.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Jack Britt hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .374. However, it's not like Cape Fear struggles in that department as they've averaged .540. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Jack Britt might still be hurting after the 12-2 defeat they got from Cape Fear when the teams last played back in March. Will the Buccaneers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
