Baseball Recap: Handley Wins Going Away Against Anniston

Handley won the last time they faced Anniston and things went their way on Thursday too. The Tigers blew past the Bulldogs 16-4. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won five matches by seven runs or more so far this season.

Cole Davis and Cordan Patterson did most of the damage at the plate: Davis went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and one double, while Patterson went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave Davis a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brody Esttes, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Handley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .654. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Anniston only posted an OBP of .500.

The victory made it two in a row for Handley and bumps their season record up to 10-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.0 runs over those games. As for Anniston, they dropped their record down to 1-8 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Handley has already played their next game, an 11-5 loss against Ranburne on the 21st. As for Anniston, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Munford at 4:30 p.m. on the 1st.
