Sumter is 8-2 against Conway since January of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Sumter Gamecocks will play host again and welcome the Conway Tigers, where tip off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
In what's become a running theme this season, Sumter gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They blew past St. James 51-9 at home. Given Sumter's advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while St. James is ranked 111th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sumter had a senior duo take command as Kiara Croskey scored 17 points along with eight steals and Rickell Brown scored 17 points along with five steals. Croskey is absolutely dominating the point category: she's posted at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Araina Ross, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Conway's five-game losing streak came to an end on Tuesday. They strolled past Socastee with points to spare, taking the game 45-26.
Sumter pushed their record up to 16-0 with that victory, which was their 15th straight at home. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 30.33 points. As for Conway, their win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-8.
Everything came up roses for Sumter against Conway in their previous matchup back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 53-20 victory. Does Sumter have another victory up their sleeve, or will Conway turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
