Andress hasn't had much luck against Parkland recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Eagles will welcome the Matadors at 6:00 p.m. Andress is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Andress got the win against Irvin by a conclusive 21-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.
Peyton Eissens was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Eissens was also big at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted over her last 13 matchups.

In other batting news, Venus Gonzalez was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with four runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Edith Dominguez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and four RBI.
Andress always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Irvin only posted an OBP of .200.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Parkland and Eastlake meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Matadors skirted past the Falcons 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Matadors have posted since February 21st.
Samantha Martinez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on seven hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Stephanie Flores was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Faith Avila was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Parkland's win bumped their record up to 17-4. As for Andress, their victory bumped their record up to 11-6.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Andress has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .558. However, it's not like Parkland struggles in that department as they've averaged .524. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Andress suffered a grim 25-3 defeat to Parkland in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
