On January 11th, Fairview lost to Columbia Academy at home by a decisive 63-46 margin. While losing is never fun, Fairview can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 253rd, while Columbia Academy is ranked 51st).
Meanwhile, Montgomery Central had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 45-42 win over Sycamore. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Montgomery Central has posted yet this season.
Montgomery Central's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Christian Fox, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds, and Drew Yarbrough, who scored 21 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Yarbrough has scored all season.
Fairview's loss dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Montgomery Central, they pushed their record up to 8-9 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
