After a string of nine wins, the Hemlock Huskies's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They suffered a rough 51-31 loss at the hands of Frankenmuth. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Hemlock has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Hemlock still got an impressive performance from Lauren Borsenik, who scored six points along with 11 rebounds and two steals. Borsenik has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last five times she's played.
Frankenmuth found their leader in underclassman Grace Brenner, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine assists. Brenner is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Clare Conzelmann, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Hemlock's loss ended a 15-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 13-3. As for Frankenmuth, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-2.
Hemlock will face off against Swan Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Hemlock is not getting complacent considering they own a much higher rank in Michigan (they are ranked 58th, while Swan Valley is ranked 422nd). As for Frankenmuth, they will be playing at home against Glenn at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Frankenmuth is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 55.1 points per game this season.
