TERRA Environmental is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering South Dade just ended the team's five-game winning streak two weeks ago. They lost 16-1 to the Buccaneers. The contest marked TERRA Environmental's lowest-scoring game so far this season.
Aryanna Hussain was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Braddock). They were the clear victors by a 22-3 margin over Archbishop Carroll on Tuesday. Considering Braddock has won eight matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Emely Ramirez was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out nine over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with four RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Anais Gonzalez was a standout: she scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emily Cancio, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Braddock hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least two strikeouts batters in three consecutive games.
TERRA Environmental suffered their first road defeat, dropping their record down to 6-2. As for Braddock, their record is now 8-4.
Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. TERRA Environmental has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .598. However, it's not like Braddock struggles in that department as they've averaged .581. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went TERRA Environmental's way against Braddock in their previous matchup back in April of 2021, as TERRA Environmental made off with a 15-1 win. Will TERRA Environmental repeat their success, or does Braddock has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
