The biggest upset of the week belonged to Cantwell-Sacred Heart, who took down 646th ranked Bishop Montgomery, 19-17.
The Cardinals scaled the state rankings by moving to 662 from 749 this week, the biggest jump in Del Rey. Cantwell-Sacred Heart was able to move up by topping the Knights 19-17.
Evan Rambo threw for 85 yards and 60 touchdowns.
Steven Chavez was a passing and rushing force as St. Bernard defeated Bosco Tech. He completed 15 passes for 387 yards and 6 touchdowns and also ran for 15 yards. Chavez's key target this week was Brandon Bailey, who caught 4 passes for 145 yards.
Rambo and Jacob LaRue gave Verbum Dei a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Teammate Rambo added to the ground attack by rushing for 169 yards.
6-foot-4 quarterback Chavez of the Vikings is the league leader in passing yards this season with 956. He has also thrown 12 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Chase Busse. The Cantwell-Sacred Heart star has 25 catches for 305 yards.
The Eagles' offense has scored 204 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while La Salle has allowed only 77 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Verbum Dei takes on the Lancers. Jason Miller's team is in first place, while La Salle is in fourth place.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Eagles take on Russell Gordon's team. Verbum Dei has allowed 86 points this season, while the Lancers have given up 77. The Eagles allowed 15 points last week as they bested Mary Star of the Sea.
St. Bernard took down the Tigers 64-28 last week, the largest margin of any game. Chavez ran for 15 yards during the win.
