The Horizon Hawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 77-62 to Chaparral. Horizon has not had much luck with Chaparral recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Horizon lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brady Greene. Despite the final result, he scored 19 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Greene scored a full 30.6% of Horizon's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Tyreese Robison was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds.
Horizon struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Gavin Carter continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Chaparral, scoring 22 points along with eight assists and five rebounds. The matchup was Carter's ninth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Christian Williams, who scored 18 points along with six rebounds.
Horizon's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Chaparral, their win ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Horizon will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Boulder at 6:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. As for Chaparral, they will head out on the road to face off against Cherry Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Cherry Creek focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Saturday.
