The Milan Bulldogs will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Huntingdon Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
With a playoff game on the line, Milan rose to the challenge on Friday. They claimed a resounding 40-6 victory over Lewis County on the road. With Milan ahead 26-0 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Meanwhile, Huntingdon waltzed into Friday's game with nine straight wins but they left with ten. They didn't even let Waverly Central onto the board and left with a 62-0 win. Given Huntingdon's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while Waverly Central is ranked 180th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Huntingdon's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ashton Hutcherson led the charge by rushing for 128 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. Kenton Smith was in the mix as well, providing Huntingdon with two touchdowns.
Huntingdon's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB six times. Leading the way was Easton Byars and his two sacks.
Their wins bumped Milan to 9-2 and Huntingdon to 10-1.
Milan lost to Huntingdon on the road by a decisive 32-14 margin in their previous matchup back in September. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Huntingdon's Gray Eubanks, who rushed for 125 yards and three touchdowns. Now that Milan knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
