Dock Mennonite is a perfect 3-0 against The Christian Academy since April of 2023 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Pioneers will take on The Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. Dock Mennonite is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.
Dock Mennonite will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Thursday, then bounced right back against Delaware County Christian on Friday. The Pioneers blew past the Knights 16-2. The result was nothing new for the Pioneers, who have now won four contests by 11 runs or more so far this season.
Avery Kutzner was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Kutzner was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dana Delamater, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Taelyn Landis, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Dock Mennonite always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .679. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for The Christian Academy's offense. They came up short against Faith Christian Academy on Monday, falling 10-0. The defeat continues a trend for The Christian Academy in their meetings with Faith Christian Academy: they've now lost six in a row.
The Christian Academy saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tori Townsend, who went 1-for-3 with one triple. That triple marked the first that Townsend has hit this season.
The Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Dock Mennonite, their record is now 4-2.
The Christian Academy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Dock Mennonite hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .338. It's a different story for The Christian Academy, though, as they've only averaged .233. Will they be able to contain Dock Mennonite's hitters?
Everything went Dock Mennonite's way against The Christian Academy in their previous matchup on April 2nd, as Dock Mennonite made off with a 13-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pioneers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
