The St. Joseph Regional Green Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 23 points or more this season. Everything went their way against Pascack Valley on Tuesday as St. Joseph Regional made off with a 47-24 victory. Given St. Joseph Regional's advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 29th, while Pascack Valley is ranked 130th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
St. Joseph Regional got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Alex Mazzella out in front who scored 11 points along with four steals. The matchup was Mazzella's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jaydan Almonor, who scored 13 points.
St. Joseph Regional's victory ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-0. As for Pascack Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Joseph Regional will challenge Wayne Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Wayne Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Tuesday. As for Pascack Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Paramus at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
