The Rice Bulldogs can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent contest on Tuesday. They really took it to Palmer for the full four quarters, racking up a 71-40 victory on the road. The victory was nothing new for Rice as they're now sitting on 13 straight.
Saniya Burks continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 29 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Burks is crushing the point category: she's posted at least 26 every time she's taken the court this season. Aaliyah Nezar was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
Despite the loss, Palmer had strong showings from Reagan Davis, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and three steals, and Kenli Dobie, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. It was the first time this season that Davis pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Katie Waddle, who scored three points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Even though they lost, Palmer smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. This was only their 15th loss (out of 23 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Rice is on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season. As for Palmer, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-20.
Rice will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Yellowjackets at 5:00 p.m. Kemp is no doubt hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Palmer, they will head out on the road to challenge the Tigers at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Malakoff presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Bulldogs in Texas (the Tigers are ranked 94th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 1141st).
