The Hemlock Huskies had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.1 points), and they went ahead and made it nine on Thursday. They pulled ahead with a 53-52 photo finish over Cass City. Given Hemlock's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while Cass City is ranked 356th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hemlock was led to victory by Carly Siler and Lauren Borsenik. Siler scored 15 points, while Borsenik dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds. Borsenik has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kylee Miller, who scored ten points.
Hemlock's win was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-2. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 30.4 points. As for Cass City, their loss dropped their record down to 8-8.
Hemlock will play host again and welcome Frankenmuth, where tip off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Cass City, they will head out on the road to face off against Ubly at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Cass City and Ubly are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
