The St. Edward Beavers had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 45-35 victory over Heartland Lutheran on Friday. The win was just what St. Edward needed coming off of a 66-22 loss in their prior match.
Anthony Reader continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 28 points along with six rebounds and four steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of St. Edward's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Cumming, who scored six points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
St. Edward's victory ended a six-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-10. As for Heartland Lutheran, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season.
St. Edward will be playing in front of their home fans against Riverside at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Riverside is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 54.4 points per game this season. As for Heartland Lutheran, they will head out on the road to square off against Palmer at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nebraska (Heartland Lutheran is ranked 267th, while Palmer is ranked 282nd).
