The Chatham Charter Knights came tearing into Friday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against Clover Garden School as Chatham Charter made off with a 64-38 victory. Chatham Charter has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 20 points or more this season.
Chatham Charter's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Delana Loflin, who scored 16 points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Meah Brooks, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Defeat or not, Clover Garden School got some senior leadership from Arissa Duff who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and two steals and Makayla Quimby who scored six points along with two steals and two blocks. Duff is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Clover Garden School struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Chatham Charter posted 14 assists.
Chatham Charter's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.6 points per game. As for Clover Garden School, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-6.
Chatham Charter will head out on the road to challenge Southern Wake Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Southern Wake Academy comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 20 points in their last eight games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Clover Garden School, they will be playing at home against Bethany at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
