Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Appomattox County's 12th in Last 13 Outings

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Appomattox County walked away with it. They were the clear victors by a 9-2 margin over the Floyd County Buffaloes on Tuesday. Considering the Raiders have won eight matchups by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Isaac Records spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on seven hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jack Wilkerson was incredible, going 1-for-3 with four stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April. Ashton Stratton was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Appomattox County hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive games.

Appomattox County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Floyd County, they dropped their record down to 15-12 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Appomattox County will face off against Dan River at 7:05 p.m. on Thursday. Floyd County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
