The Kenton Wildcats will head out on the road to take on the Defiance Bulldogs at 7:00 a.m. on Friday. Kenton is no doubt hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
Last Friday, Kenton didn't have quite enough to beat Celina and fell 38-35. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Wildcats have suffered against the Bulldogs since October 30, 2015.
Meanwhile, Defiance entered their tilt with Shawnee on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They breezed by the Indians on the road to the tune of 43-7. That 36 point margin sets a new team best for the Bulldogs this season.
Defiance's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Noah Gomez, who rushed for 69 yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for 68 yards and a touchdown. The dominant performance gave Gomez a new career-high in rushing yards. Another player making a difference was Anthony Wilder, who rushed for 118 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries.
Defiance wouldn't let Shawnee keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Defiance can thank Joey Robinson and Mitchell Taylor for forcing both of them.
Kenton's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Defiance, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
