Covenant Academy scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 73-51 margin over Twiggs Academy. The win was just what Covenant Academy needed coming off of a 74-24 defeat in their prior game.
Covenant Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ben Mcghee led the charge by scoring 21 points along with seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Stevens, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and three blocks.
Several Trojans players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Josh Nobles, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 14 rebounds. That was a full 45.1% of Twiggs Academy's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jacob Smith, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, Twiggs Academy were working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Covenant Academy's win bumped their record up to 6-13. As for Twiggs Academy, they dropped their record down to 1-16 with that loss, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.
Covenant Academy will head out on the road to take on the Lancers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Central Fellowship Christian Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 522 points over their last seven matchups. As for Twiggs Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against the Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. Thomas Jefferson Academy has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 12.
