The Champaign Central Maroons lost against the Centralia Orphans back in December of 2016, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Champaign Central suffered a tough 69-48 loss at the hands of Centralia. Champaign Central was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-21.
Champaign Central's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aidyn Beck, who scored nine points along with 11 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Chris Bush, who scored 18 points.
Champaign Central's defeat dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Centralia, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 14-0.
Champaign Central and Alton will face off at 8:15 a.m. on December 30, 2023 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Centralia won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Evanston at 2:00 p.m. on December 30, 2023. Evanston will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 41st, while Centralia is ranked first).
