The Desert Mountain Wolves came into Tuesday's contest having lost 15 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against Lake Havasu by a score of 37-24 on Tuesday. The win was just what Desert Mountain needed coming off of a 60-22 loss in their prior match.
Desert Mountain's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Adyson Lundberg led the charge by scoring 14 points along with five rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lundberg has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicolette Kelly, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Desert Mountain used a slightly different lineup for their bout with Lake Havasu. Three players hit the court for the first time this season: Marah Williamson, kirah hall, and Savannah Neel. Hall made the most of the opportunity, scoring three points. A few more games like that and she might be seeing even more time going forward.
When it comes to explaining why Lake Havasu lost, one person who can't be blamed is Lexi Tuinstra. Despite the final result, she scored 14 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Tuinstra hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games.
Desert Mountain's win ended a 12-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-16. As for Lake Havasu, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost nine of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-20 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Desert Mountain will challenge Cactus Shadows at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Desert Mountain is coming into the match with ten straight victories on the road, meaning Cactus Shadows will have to defend against a squad hungry for a win. As for Lake Havasu, they will square off against Westview at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Lake Havasu focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Tuesday.
