The Brindlee Mountain Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their tenth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 47-33 to Pennington. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Brindlee Mountain of the 39-36 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Brindlee Mountain lost, one person who can't be blamed is Autumn Abernathy. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds. Abernathy continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoey Persle, who scored six points.
Brindlee Mountain's loss was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 5-12. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.0 points per game. As for Pennington, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-7.
Brindlee Mountain will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Brewer at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd. As for Pennington, they will head out on the road to challenge Appalachian at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Appalachian is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.
