Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Valparaiso). They put the hurt on the Merrillville Pirates with a sharp 19-0 victory on Wednesday. Trevor Fenters made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Valparaiso got a massive performance out of DJ Malloy, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those five RBI gave Malloy a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Trent Gill, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
