Softball Recap: Pioneer Sets Scoring Season-High Against Del Mar

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pioneer). They were the clear victors by a 17-2 margin over the Del Mar Dons on Wednesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Mustangs considering their one-run performance the game before.

Evie Quinn was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. Maya Salles-Cunha also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Pioneer always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Del Mar only posted an OBP of .350.

Pioneer's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-6. As for Del Mar, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pioneer will head out to square off against Lincoln at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Lincoln's pitching crew has only allowed 3.8 runs per game this season, so Pioneer's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Del Mar, they will venture away from home to challenge Prospect at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
