Southern Huntingdon County is 5-0 against Claysburg-Kimmel since December of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Southern Huntingdon County Rockets will head out on the road to face off against the Claysburg-Kimmel Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Monday, Southern Huntingdon County humbled Northern Bedford County with a 64-24 victory. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-12.
Meanwhile, even though Mount Union scored an imposing 69 points on Tuesday, Claysburg-Kimmel still came out on top. Claysburg-Kimmel sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 71-69 win over Mount Union. The win made it back-to-back wins for Claysburg-Kimmel.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Claysburg-Kimmel to victory, but perhaps none more so than Elias Ritchey, who scored 14 points along with eight assists and six steals. The game was Ritchey's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Brayden Haney, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Southern Huntingdon County now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Claysburg-Kimmel, they now also have a winning record of 2-1.
Southern Huntingdon County was able to grind out a solid victory over Claysburg-Kimmel when the teams last played back in January, winning 61-50. The rematch might be a little tougher for Southern Huntingdon County since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
