The Parish Episcopal Panthers waltzed into Friday's matchup with five straight wins but they left with six. They walked away with a 49-40 victory over Prestonwood Christian. Given Parish Episcopal's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 112th, while Prestonwood Christian is ranked 247th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Parish Episcopal got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Maddux Reid out in front who rushed for 318 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.9 yards per carry. Sawyer Anderson was another key contributor, throwing for 330 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.6 yards per attempt.
Several Lions players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tag O'Neal, who picked up 212 receiving yards and three touchdowns. O'Neal was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 63 yards. Another player making a difference was Kellen Tasby, who threw for 358 yards and four touchdowns.
Parish Episcopal's victory was their fourth straight at home , which pushed their record up to 7-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.8 points per game. As for Prestonwood Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Parish Episcopal will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Concordia Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on November 18th. Prestonwood Christian will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on St. Pius X at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th.
