The Broome Centurions lost against the Blue Ridge Fighting Tigers two weeks ago, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Broome took a 55-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fighting Tigers. Broome has struggled against the Fighting Tigers recently, as their contest on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Broome's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anaya Wofford, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds. Shamya Wilkins was another key contributor, scoring six points along with three steals.
Zikira henderson was her usual excellent self, scoring 26 points along with five steals for Blue Ridge. Henderson is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Anyah Henderson, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Broome's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-14. As for Blue Ridge, they pushed their record up to 19-3 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Broome will take on the Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in South Carolina (Woodruff is ranked 176th, while the Centurions are ranked 163rd). As for Blue Ridge, they will head out on the road to face off against the Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Carolina Academy has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 23.
