The Point Loma Pointers had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.5 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They came out on top against Canyon Hills by a score of 58-51. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Point Loma also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2021.
Point Loma's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Grant Stewart, who scored 18 points along with nine rebounds. That's the first time this season that Stewart pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Trevor Dorris, who scored 12 points.
Point Loma pushed their record up to 15-5 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.8 points per game. As for Canyon Hills, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-6.
Point Loma will take on Coronado at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Coronado will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 733rd, while Point Loma is ranked 349th). As for Canyon Hills, they will head out on the road to take on Kearny at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Kearny has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 16.
