The biggest upset of the week belonged to South Houston, who took down 683rd ranked South Houston, 23-21.
Manvel extended the longest winning streak in 5A Region III District 22 this week by beating Dobie, 48-0. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Mavericks.
Jordan Wyatt was the most productive running back in the league this week. In five carries, he ran for 63 yards as Pasadena Memorial defeated Pasadena. Teammate Ahrmon McLeod added to the ground attack by rushing for 61 yards.
Turner was the best wideout in the league this week as the Mavericks beat the Eagles. Turner tallied four receptions for 118 yards. Dorian Johnson helped Pasadena Memorial's passing attack out by catching two balls for 62 yards.
Shane McCarley put up the best numbers through the air as Manvel bested the Longhorns. He finished with 19 completions for 275 yards and five touchdowns. McCarley's favorite target this week was Kyrion Parker, who caught three passes for 76 yards.
Kirk Martin's team's McCarley and Parker have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 5A Region III District 22 in both passing and receiving yards. McCarley has thrown for 1945 yards this season, while Parker, a 6-foot-3 receiver, has 28 catches for 673 yards. Turner from Pasadena Memorial leads the league in rushing with 865 yards.
The Mavericks' McCarley is within 55 passing yards of surpassing 2,000 on the season coming into this week's game against Pasadena.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Sam Rayburn takes on Chris Quillian's team. As it stands, the Texans are in fourth, while the Mavericks are in second.
The Trojans were the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from seventh to fifth in the league. Earlier in the week, South Houston defeated South Houston 23-21.
