The Cheyenne Wells Tigers''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They blew past La Veta 64-18 on the road. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 52-18.
Cheyenne Wells was led to victory by Ethen Garay and Trey Scheler. Garay rushed for 166 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries, while Scheler gained 116 total yards and four touchdowns. That's the first time this season that Garay punched in two or more rushing touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Perry Chadwick, who threw for 118 yards and three touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes.
Cheyenne Wells' defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. La Veta's QB won't forget Garay anytime soon given Garay sacked him five times.
Loss or not, La Veta got some senior leadership from Kade Andreatta who gained 154 total yards and a touchdown and Jessey Montunnas who threw for 225 yards and a touchdown on only 16 passes.
Cheyenne Wells' victory bumped their record up to 6-5. As for La Veta, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 6-5.
Cheyenne Wells does not have any more games scheduled as of now. La Veta also has no future games currently scheduled.
