Battlefield has gone a perfect 10-0 against Osbourn recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Bobcats will head out on the road to face off against the Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Battlefield is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
Battlefield will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Unity Reed on Wednesday. The Bobcats never let the Lions get on the board and left with a 14-0 win. The Bobcats not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 1st (when they won 25-10).
McKenzie Pittman and Izabella Rodriguez made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Pittman tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Rodriguez kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Pittman a new career-high in strikeouts (three). At bat, Pittman got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double, while Rodriguez got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run.
In other batting news, Abby Burns was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Katie Williams, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs.
Battlefield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .926. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Osbourn was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Gainesville, falling 13-2.
Osbourn saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was MacKenzie Fitterer, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double. Kayla Payne also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Battlefield's record is now 9-5. As for Osbourn, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Battlefield has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .436. However, it's not like Osbourn struggles in that department as they've averaged .528. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Battlefield's way against Osbourn in their previous matchup back in April, as Battlefield made off with a 25-10 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bobcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
